Believe it or not, there still isn’t an official John Wick shooter. The franchise has been going strong since the first movie came out in 2014 (not counting The Continental), yet no big game studio has made a proper game out of it. There was a strategy game a while back, but it kind of got forgotten and ended up with mostly mixed reviews on Steam. Luckily, a small indie dev showed exactly how to bring John Wick’s character to life in a game and nailed it.

Suit up, Wick style

Suit for Hire first hit Early Access back in 2021, and the full 1.0 version released on June 20, 2025. Like Philip Elsner from GameStar said, is the “best John Wick simulator” out there. Plus is under $9 on Steam right now.

It’s a top-down shooter where you can switch to third-person anytime and take down contracts with some seriously stylish, choreographed action. The gameplay is all about getting through missions with limited ammo and melee takedowns that reward you for being precise and creative.

There’s no heavy story here, you jump right into the fight, where the main goal is simply to wipe out waves of enemies however you want. It’s got that same fast-paced, tactical vibe you find in Hotline Miami and Katana Zero, where quick thinking and sharp skills really matter. That straightforward focus is part of why the game holds a “Very Positive” rating on Steam.

The combat in Suit for Hire mixes rapid-fire combos, stealthy backstabs, and sharp counter moves in intense sessions where you’re you just unlock new gear as you go. You get pistols, shotguns, rifles, all kinds of different weapons, plus cinematic finishers. Throw in flashy moves like pike jumps and bullet-time slow-mo straight out of Max Payne, and you get a polished, chaotic package.

What really shines is how smoothly all these mechanics come together to deliver a thrilling, nonstop action ride. The devs at Godmode Interactive knew exactly what they wanted Suit for Hire to look like, listened to player feedback during EA, and delivered a satisfying experience.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
