Your defense in Rematch is useless without knowing these tricks. You won't learn them in the game
The best defense doesn't have to be the offense at all. Learning these mechanics will allow you to become a better defender in Rematch.

Everyone would like to be the star of their team in Rematch. Whether through skillful dribbling and tricks, like the Ippy Slide, or by scoring the most beautiful goals and helping the team win against their opponents. The thing is, it's not always the goals scored that decide who wins, but a solid defense. And it seems that a large part of this game's community tends to forget about it.
Fortunately, the game itself offers many mechanics that will allow you to better defend yourself against an opponent's attack. The problem is that they are somewhat hidden. Others, on the other hand, look quite strange, but they work, so it's worth using them anyway. Do you want to become better in defense and be the backbone of your team? In that case, this guide is for you.
Quick turn
Rematch is a game in which the pace of the game is very fast. Sometimes a fraction of a second can determine whether you reach the ball faster than your opponent. That's why it's important to learn quick turn, which requires cancelling the basic running animation.
Surely in many cases, when the ball was passed to the other side, you turned your camera and started sprinting again. The issue is that the animation for this run is really slow, so you might not make it in time to catch the ball.
For this, a combination of a defensive stance with a dash (left ctrl + space on PC / L2 + X on PS5 / LT + A on Xbox) and turning the camera in the direction you want to turn and run is useful. Thanks to this, you will make a jump, and while in animation, you can freely turn around and run further, without stopping and losing speed.
Diving
On the other hand, diving involves making a jump during a sprint (left shift + space on PC / L1 + triangle on PS5 / LB + Y on Xbox). At the moment, jumping in such a comical way is somewhat faster to reach the target than a regular sprint. That's why, if you have to chase the ball or a player, it's better to run towards him in this way.
Furthermore, you can use the extra effort to gain even more speed and propel yourself a significantly greater distance. This is especially useful when you do it at the last moment of using the extra effort, when the blue bar is about to run out. Mainly because you'll get a speed boost, and even when you reach the end of the extra effort, the improved diving still kicks in, "extending" the effect of this mechanic.
These two gimmicks might not be as flashy as tricks or unique shots, but they'll help you get to the ball or opponent faster, so it's worth using them.
