How to start fishing in Palworld. Get new pals and Coralum Ore
Tides of Terraria has arrived. It adds a lot of new content, including the fishing mechanic. Our Palworld guide explains how to start fishing.

Although it's not very often that collaborations happen, when they do, they are mostly warmly received by all. This is no different for Palworld that just a few hours ago received a major update called Tides of Terraria, which is a form of partnership with Terraria. In addition to many new features (for example a fresh themed dungeon), a fishing mechanic has also been added. Quite a few players, however, have a problem with figuring it out. Our Palworld guide explains how to catch new pals.
How to start fishing in Palworld
In order to start fishing and get new Pals, you first need to unlock the “fishing” technology in the skill tree. You can find rods at 15, 29 and 45 tiers. Next, you have to craft the rod itself. Beginners set can be found at High quality workbench (level 11). To craft more advanced tools you will need Production Assembly Lines.
Moreover, you will need bait. The basic one will be unlocked with the Beginner Fishing Set. Others, more effective, are hidden behind the technology unlocks at levels 22 and 38.
When you get a fishing rod, it will be possible to cast it into the water (you can do it also sitting on a pal). Fishing itself is a fairly simple activity. You need to equip your fishing rod, select bait from the inventory, then approach the water where the fish shadows are visible. Next, click the right mouse button to have the rod ready, and then the left mouse button to cast and start fishing. When the float starts to sink, click the left mouse button at the right moment to start the mini-game.
Keep the fish icon in the right place, using the mouse. Holding the left mouse button will make the bar go to the right, and releasing the button, to the left. When the gauge is fully filled, you will catch your fish.
How to get Coralum Ore and other resources
Now you can also find so-called Salvage Spots at the sea. These are special places where you can get materials that are needed to upgrade your weapons, such as Coralum Ore. However, to do this, remember to have a fishing rod, magnet (technology level 61) and a water mount. Additionally, it is a good idea to take Jelliette with you, as this pal “increases items obtained by fishing”. To find spots to salvage, look for pieces of wreckage (planks, barrels and so on). Use a mount to search.
