“It'll either finish my career or bring it in another direction.” Liam Neeson fears that one film could ruin his 47-year career
Before accepting the new role, Liam Neeson had some concerns about whether it would ruin his career.

There are some films that you just look at and know that they can be career-defining and either ruin it or open new doors for the filmmaker. And an offer to star in such a production faced Liam Neeson, who was offered a part in the new sequel to the Naked Gun series.
Movies with Leslie Nielsen were crime spoof-comedies, and returning to that format at a time when far fewer similar productions are being made could indeed be a risky venture, something Neeson was aware of from the start. And yet he decided to star in Akiva Schaffer's The Naked Gun alongside Pamela Anderson, which differs significantly from the productions in which Neeson has so far appeared and to which he has accustomed his fans.
He told People in 2022 about his concerns.
I've been approached by Seth McFarlane and Paramount Studios to maybe resurrect the Naked Gun films. It'll either finish my career or bring it in another direction. I honestly don't know.
A new trailer for The Naked Gun with Liam Neeson was recently released. It can be seen that the movie was made in the spirit of films with Leslie Nielsen, which is encouraging, as perhaps fans of famous crime spoof-comedies will get a sequel that honors the old series. You can watch the aforementioned trailer below.
In The Naked Gun, Liam Neeson will play Frank Drebin's son, Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. The new installment of the comedy series will also feature other children of well-known characters. And Frank Drebin Jr. will face a tough challenge – he will have to head the Police Squad and protect his honor and his own, as well as save the world.
After August 1, because that's when The Naked Gun will be released, we will find out whether this movie will end Liam Neeson's career or lead it in a new direction.
