Wars of the Firstborn is a modification based on the discontinued Ridder Clan Mod for The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II and for The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II - The Rise of the Witch-King expansion, which focuses on bringing to life as much of the Elven world from Tolkien’s epic as possible.

What are the main features of Wars of the Firstborn?

1. A new and complete Mirkwood faction. - a faction worthy of the Elven name — both visually striking and mechanically unique, with several new systems and mechanics.
2. A fully functional BFME1 mode. A legacy feature from the Ridder Clan Mod, we've honored that legacy and finally finished what was started years ago. The BFME1 mode is now fully working for all factions on all maps, including competitive AI — all via a slightly improved Voting System, a core RC Mod feature. It’s designed to closely reflect the original BFME1 feel, even for factions that didn’t exist back then.

What else has changed since Ridder Clan Mod?

1. The Create-a-Character system has been entirely removed, reverting to the original RotWK behavior.
2. The original Ridder Clan factions have been removed.
3. The mod no longer functions as a separate expansion — it’s now a classic mod. No more defeat screen bugs or the need for a fixer tool.

New faction? What about the old ones?

While the focus of this release is on Mirkwood, the original factions have received a few small updates:

Gondor”

1. New models for Gondor Soldiers, Tower Guard, Archers, and Minas Tirith Knights.

Dwarves

1. New castle and camp in BFME1 mode.
2. Updated models for Dwarf Phalanx, Guardians, Axe Throwers, and Zealots.
3. Men of Dale have been replaced by Lake-Town Guardsmen.

Mordor

1. Kept RC Mod visuals for Orc Fighters and Archers.
2. Added new units: Dol Guldur Orcs, Pikemen, and Trolls.

Goblins

1. New castle and camp for BFME1 mode.

Isengard

1. No changes yet.

Install instruction:

1. Download the installer
2. Make sure you have Rise of the Witch-King installed
3. Follow the instructions of the installer and install the mod in a place of your choosing
4. A shortcut should automatically be created on Desktop after the installation is done
5. Switch ROTWK to 2.01 patch, this version is not compatible with 2.02
6. Use the shortcut to play the mod

Important: If you don't have Rise of the Witch-King installed beforehand, the installer will not work!!!

To uninstall the mod, use the uninst.exe from the folder where you installed the mod, or simply delete the folder.

The mod can be run in Multiplayer just like any ROTWK mod.
