In Death Stranding 2, Sam can craft vehicles that make traversing the ruined world much easier. This page of the guide will explain how to gain access to garages and how to build your first vehicle - a Tri-Cruiser. You will also learn how to power your vehicles while traveling.

When do you unlock vehicles?

You'll unlock your first vehicle in Death Stranding 2 pretty quickly. Once you reach the research station in Mexico, you'll find yourself fighting a powerful BT. After defeating the boss and starting Order No. 7 (Return home with a gift for Lou), the game will encourage you to make your first vehicle - a Tri-Cruiser.

From now on, you will have access to garages. They are located in larger outposts that you'll encounter along the way.

How to build a Tri-Cruiser?

Once you have access to a garage, select it from the Create & Manage tab. Select one of the free slots to enter the vehicle production window. To make a basic Tri-Cruiser you'll need:

  1. 220 Metals;
  2. 160 Ceramics;
  3. 10 Chemicals.

Once you've made the vehicle make sure you move it to the Elevator tab. That way it will be brought outside.

How do vehicles work?

Vehicles such as the Tri-Cruiser allow for quick movement in open spaces. You can also load additional cargo onto it.

Vehicles are powered by batteries, which are automatically charged when you store them at a garage. If you run out of power on the road, you can wait for the vehicle's solar panels to recharge it. An alternative is to build a generator, a special structure that will allow you to charge the battery.
