Death Stranding 2: What happens on your birthday?
DS2 is another game in which Hideo Kojima gave players the ability to choose the day and month of their birthday. On this page, you'll find out what effect this has on the game.
Last update:
At the beginning of Death Stranding 2 you must choose your day and month of birth. This is nothing new, as this choice has already appeared in the previous game, as well as in other Hideo Kojima games. On this page you will learn what conditions must be met to see a special birthday event.
Spoiler warning: this page contains spoilers for the early stages of the game.
What conditions must be met?
To get the special birthday event, you must have reached Chapter 3 - Drawbridge by the time of your birthday and have Order 009: Deliver the Chiral Decontaminator to the Government's Base completed.
Once these conditions are met, head to your room aboard the DHV Magellan to trigger the event.
What happens on your birthday?
When you enter the room, instead of the standard cutscene of Sam waking up, you'll get a special birthday cutscene in which the characters wish you a happy birthday.
You'll then get a cutscene of Sam waking up, but this time there'll be a slice of pizza on the table you can eat.
Does the birthday event impact the story?
The birthday event has no impact on the rest of the story and is merely an easter egg that serves to diversify the gameplay. You may have experienced similar cut-scenes in other Hideo Kojima games, such as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and the first Death Stranding.
