Red Dead Redemption 2 is expected to get a nextgen update in the coming months, says insider. Announcement may come in days
Rumors of a next-gen update for RDR2 are coming back. According to new reports, we won't have to wait long for it.

Update (June 15th)
Rob Wiethoff, the actor who lends his voice to John Marston in Red Dead Redemption 2, revealed that he has "exciting news" which he cannot share yet. However, he added that it would be announced next week. Everything indicates that an announcement for RDR2 on Switch 2 and/or updates for PS5 and XSX/S is coming.
Original news (June 5th)
According to the latest rumors, Rockstar Games studio actually plans to refresh Red Dead Redemption 2. This information was provided by an insider, NateTheHate2. This is not the first time similar reports have appeared, but their subsequent source makes them more likely.
- The game is getting a "next-gen update" to improve it on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5 consoles, bringing it up to modern standards. Currently, the owners of these devices are simply playing the PS4 and XONE versions.
- There are also plans to convert the game to Nintendo Switch 2.
- Both the next-gen update and the version for Switch 2 are set to launch this fall. This is the most interesting part of these reports because this date was missing from earlier rumors.
The question arises, what should a next-gen update offer. Well-known to Rockstar games fans, Ben published a personal wish list (for PS5), which consists of the following items:
- 60 fps mode,
- ray tracing,
- use of DualSense features,
- new content for Red Dead Online.
Except for the last one, all these things seem likely. Rockstar Games gave up further development of Red Dead Online some time ago, but the release of a next-gen version and a port for the Switch 2 would be a perfect opportunity to try to breathe new life into the RDR2 online mode.
