Hideo Kojima encourages fans to fight evil after Death Stranding 2's success. Despite his age, the director still dreams of making a game in space
Hideo Kojima, creator of the highly acclaimed Death Stranding 2, among others, talked about his dreams of space flight and commented on the challenges we face as humanity.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is receiving very good reviews, so its developer, Hideo Kojima, has many reasons to be happy. So it's not surprising that the artist eagerly gives many interviews and participates in events where he talks about his dreams and thoughts.
Game not from this Earth
During the Sydney Film Festival, Kojima expressed that he would like to find himself in a dangerous situation, similar to actor Tom Cruise, who personally engages in risky action scenes. Besides, the director wants to fly into space and develop a digital production there as the first creator from the video game industry. How much time would Kojima actually spend in space? Well, not a dozen days, but several months.
I want to train properly, learn how to do the docking, go to the International Space Station and stay there for a few months. I’m not a scientist, but I could probably make games in space. I want to be the first. There are a lot of astronauts over 60, so I guess it's possible.
This is not the first time Hideo Kojima has spoken about the dream of going to space and making a game there. Recently, the developer mentioned this issue in 2023, during the Tribeca Film Festival.
"We can fight and battle"
Meanwhile, in London, where the Death Stranding 2 World Tour event took place, Kojima commented on performances by, among others, singer Caroline Polachek and the music band Chvrches, who were involved in creating music for the latest game of Kojima Productions. Kojima underlined the current challenges in the world and said that if we unite, we can overcome these tragedies.
We have a lot of things right now. We have war, we have climate change, we have a lot of earthquakes, we had the pandemic, we have a lot of things. And we have maybe a dark future a little bit. But today, if we gather like this and if we are going to be connected, we can fight and battle all these things.
Let's add that the event was also attended by Norman Reedus (who played Sam) and Lea Seydoux (who portrayed Fragile). Together with Kojima, they commemorated the memory of Ryan Karazija (who died in 2022 from pneumonia), the vocalist of the band Low Roar, whose music was an important part of the first Death Stranding.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was released on June 26, 2025, on PlayStation 5. On Metacritic, the title received 115 reviews from critics, with an average score of 90/100.
