Steam has a new hit, but it's probably not a game that most of us will be able to play. We're talking about Emotional Fraud Prevention Simulator, an adventure visual novel game made in FMV format, which means most of the graphics are live-action video sequences with actors.

  1. The game was released on Steam on June 19 and already has almost 28,000 reviews, 96% of which are positive.
  2. The title also achieves impressive activity results - last weekend it set a new record with 89,127 players playing simultaneously.
  3. If all this has piqued your interest, then unfortunately, we have some bad news - the game is only available in Chinese (via GameStar).

The production allows you to step into the shoes of a young man whose life is turned upside down by six mysterious women. The game has romantic elements, but focuses on intrigue, and the decisions made by the player lead the story to one of 38 alternative endings.

Love scams play a big role in the plot, making the project educational, as these scams are a real problem in China. In 2023 alone, a total of 3.5 billion euros were stolen through such shams.

The great success of this project is an example of a long-standing trend on Steam. Chinese developers and Chinese players have recently become very fond of FMV adventure games.

From the releases of the last few months, we can mention titles such as My Journey, Hello, Love, The Heart of an Influencer, Game of Fate 2, Codename: Daybreak, Pretty girl, please don't influence me to become immortal, or Five Hearts Under One Roof. Interestingly, some of them have English language versions, so if you want to try something new, now's your chance, especially since many of these titles are currently discounted during the summer sale on Steam.

This trend obviously makes sense. China has a huge film and television business, so game developers have no problems finding actors, directors, and set designers for their projects.
