Release Date: July 11, 2025 Early Access
A multiplayer FPP extraction shooter. Striden takes us to war-torn Scandinavia region and we participate in a conflict between the East and West. We can form teams and explore maps with the plan of plundering them. Once we have enough loot we must construct a radio beacon, call for a rescue helicopter and safely evacuate.
Due to its strategic importance, the Scandinavian Peninsula would be a significant target during a potential global or continental scale conclict. The developers from the independent Swedish studio 5 Fortress, in collaboration with Yahaha Games, started with this assumption when creating the extraction shooter described here, titled Striden.
In Striden we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP).
The game transports us to Scandinavia torn by war between the East and the West. After the tactical nuclear warheads were activated, the world stood on the brink of annihilation, and the social order almost completely collapsed.
During the game, we play as soldiers whose task is to plunder the piece of land given to them, call for a rescue helicopter, and safely evacuate. It is not easy, as they have to earn 15 thousand points (awarded for collecting "trinkets", construction and combat actions), and also independently construct a fully functional radio transmitter. As if that wasn't enough, they are pursued by other groups who have the same goals.
While exploring the map, we need to gather food, weapons and their components, as well as blueprints for the crafting system. Additionally, we acquire resources that are used to improve and expand the fortress. The fortress serves as our command center, the "heart" of which is the transmitter we are building and it may be the target of attacks from enemies. Nevertheless, our group can also launch assaults on enemy bases.
All of this means that combat is an essential element of the gameplay. We eliminate adversaries primarily using firearms. Gaining access to weapons and equipment is determined by the character class we choose. We have such roles as Assault, Engineer, Medic, Scout, and Support at our disposal. Given that we probably won't achieve much here on our own, the key to success is to compose a team whose members will complement each other.
In addition to the classic weaponry, which includes weapons from World War I, World War II and the Cold War, we also have at our disposal so-called Powerspikes. Thanks to them, we can use a cannon harnessed to a moose or make use of the power of a radioactive bear on the battlefield.
A special mention should be made of the radiation storm that rages in the game world. Due to the threat it poses, it may force us to take shelter in the fortress or at least put on a gas mask.
We can play Striden only in online multiplayer mode. The game allows players to form four five-person teams and, by cooperating, strive to achieve the goals set before them and eliminate enemy teams.
