Is Persona 5 X a gacha game? What players need to know
Persona 5 X is the newest installment of the popular jRPG series. This game is free-to-play but it does not mean that developers do not earn money. This production implements gacha mechanics.

Recently, a popular jRPG series called Persona received a spin-off. Persona 5: The Phantom X is available on PC and mobile devices. The game keeps the spirit of the franchise alive and offers an interesting combination of high school student simulator and turned-base combat. The game is free-to-play, so developers have used a different way to make money. They have decided to implement gacha mechanics. However, how do they work?
Is Persona 5 X a gacha game? Mechanics explained
Persona 5 X features mechanics which can easily be associated with the series. Perfect example are classroom questions and building friendships (or relationships) with others. They are also important parts of this spin-off. Of course, all Persona installments feature an interesting story, P5X is no different. The game takes us once again to a universe known from Persona 5. So, you will play the role of a student who leads a double life. He divides time between studying and building relationships and visiting dangerous Metaverse.
However, this is still free-to-play game with gacha mechanics. P5X is designed to keep you coming back to it every day, not to finish it in one or two evenings (or even weeks). It means that you can pull new weapons or characters and Personas. You pay for it with premium currency, which is sometimes given for free in the game, as rewards for various activities. Nevertheless, it is still a lottery. Even though hard and soft pities are implemented, you have to take into consideration that you may have to try many times before you get the character you want.
However, at this point it looks like you will be able to skip this part if you wish. You will use this mechanic only if you want to enrich your roaster of thieves. As the story progresses, you unlock more characters for free. Additionally, you can get some Personas after combats in Metaverse.
In exchange for our money, Persona 5 X will receive new content in the future. Developers revealed roadmap, where you can see what will be available. The list includes upcoming story chapters and seasonal events. So, there is something to look forward to.
