One of the most interesting FPS mods of the past several months is Medal of Honor Reborn, whose goal is to recreate the story campaign of MOH: Underground using Return to Castle Wolfenstein. We’re bringing attention to this project again, as it has recently seen significant development.

A few days ago, the mod received version 2.0.4, which introduced three new maps recreating levels from A Mittelwerk Saboteur, which was the sixth episode of the MOH: Underground campaign. Enemy AI was improved, an introductory cutscene was added, and a host of bug fixes were implemented.

With the newest version out the number of maps in the mod has reached twenty.

Currently, the mod offers twenty maps. Work on it is thus nearing completion, as the MOH: Underground campaign consists of seven episodes and an additional extra one with bonus levels. The pace of development has been very rapid recently — with several new maps released each month —so it's possible the entire project will be finished this year.

Medal of Honor: Underground was released in 2000 exclusively for the first-generation of PlayStation console. The MOH Reborn mod faithfully recreates the maps from the campaign of that game, including the map limitations imposed by the PSOne’s modest hardware. This results in somewhat simplistic location architecture in some areas, but it doesn't significantly affect the gameplay, especially since the combat and movement mechanics have been enhanced thanks to RTWC engine
