Stop what you're doing! Nintendo Switch 2 has just been officially announced! That means those recent leaks were legit, people! I don’t know about you, but I was getting really tired of all the speculation. Some said it’d be released in September 2024, others claimed it was already on the Chinese black market. But forget all that – Nintendo has just dropped the first-look trailer for the Switch 2!
Nintendo Switch 2 finally announced
In a video released just a few minutes ago, Nintendo gave us our first look at their new console, and it's confirmed for a 2025 launch. Plus, they confirmed it'll be backwards compatible (no surprise there, my faith in Nintendo is strong). They also announced a Nintendo Direct all about the Switch 2, coming April 2, 2025.
Up close, you can see the differences between the Switch 2 and the old console. First up, a better stand that lets it sit almost upright, new ports, and upgraded Joy-Cons. One interesting thing is that the closer shots of the analog sticks make it seem like they're trying to address the drifting issue that was a problem for almost every one of us. But honestly, the Switch 2 still feels pretty similar to what made the first one so great!
One last exclamation point to show just how excited I am! And we're done. Do you think those predictions about Switch 2 being as efficient as the Steam Deck will come true? And dare I say, the new Mario Kart looks amazing.
