In Bad End Theater we can take on the role of four characters: Hero, Lady, Minion, and Overlord. During the game we learn about the tragic fate of each of them, and we make decisions affecting the further course of events. The choices we make determine which of the 41 endings we will see.

Mechanics

Bad End Theater starts with the choice of a character and one of two tendencies. We talk about the character traits of the hero or heroine, which determine what opportunities will be available to them in key moments of the story. Then we have nothing else to do but to start exploring the tragic stories and make decisions that affect the course of events. Occasional puzzles add variety to the game.

What's interesting, the stories are interconnected, so the choices we make in one of them are reflected in all the others. Despite the fact that the story told in the game is full of branching, the individual stories are short enough that getting to know it all is a task of about 3 hours.

Technical aspects

Bad End Theater features simple, pixel art graphics. The situations in which the heroes find themselves are presented in the form of static boards, under which text boxes are placed. The retro style is complemented by an chiptune soundtrack.
