Release Date: June 17, 2025
An online co-op FPS from Remedy, set in the universe of the Control game. In FBC: Firebreak we play as members of the titular team, tasked with protecting the Oldest House for the Federal Bureau of Control. We act as 3-person teams, dealing with supernatural threats.
FBC: Firebreak is an FPS designed with co-op gameplay in mind. It is a spin-off of the Control game released in 2019. The game, which was created under the code name Condor, was developed by the authors of the original, namely the Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment. Their portfolio also includes the Alan Wake series or the first two installments of the Max Payne series.
FBC: Firebreak takes us to the science-fiction universe, or more precisely – to the so-called Oldest House, the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control, which we had the opportunity to visit in Control. When this place becomes targeted by extraterrestrial forces, the titular Firebreak comes into action, which is the most versatile unit of the FBC.
During the game, we play as members of this unit, and our goal is to restore order in the office as quickly as possible, before it is completely taken over by anomalies distorting reality and creatures spreading chaos.
In FBC: Firebreak we view the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). During the game we primarily focus on eliminating the extraterrestrial forces attacking the Federal Bureau of Control. We get rid of monsters, which are differentiated in terms of size and appearance, as well as attack strength and resistance to damage, by making use of an arsenal that includes firearms, grenades, and all sorts of combat gadgets. The game allows us to customize individual pieces of equipment to our current needs and individual fighting style. Moreover, as we progress, we gain supernatural improvements that increase our effectiveness on the battlefield.
FBC: Firebreak was designed for online cooperation for up to three people.
FBC: Firebreak is powered by the proprietary Northlight engine, which was previously used for such Remedy Entertainment projects as Control, Quantum Break and Alan Wake 2.

FBC: Firebreak review: I want to love this game, but it’s not quite there yet
As someone who is not entrenched in one of the many live-service shooter games on the market right now, FBC: Firebreak felt like the multiplayer experience built for me. It has all the weird quirkiness that Remedy has been known for, with clever character classes that synergize well and the kinds of missions you would never see anywhere else. But somehow, when I jump into the game, it doesn’t feel right. The Oldest House is swarming with enemies, but somehow still feels somewhat empty. The missions feel repetitive and even tedious at times. Hopefully, Remedy can learn from this and turn this game into something great, or use the feedback for the next attempt at multiplayer.

June is dominated by ports for Switch 2, but there will also be room for other games. Among the new ones are: The Alters, Dune: Awakening, and Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.
Recently, Remedy studio invited me to try out their new game, which is going to be totally different from what they've been working on for years. A co-op shooter in the Control universe? This couldn't have worked! And yet...

MonsterVine: 2 / 5 by James Carr
FBC: Firebreak is a tedious and downright boring co-op shooter that starts sluggish and uninteresting. The progression here feels like a grind, an issue made worse by the lack of engaging moments. The objectives in each mission feel like a chore, down there with some of the worst checklist content in video games. The best parts of FBC: Firebreak take time to reach, something most people, myself included, won’t want to put in the effort to see.
GameSpot: 8 / 10 by Mark Delaney
Remedy's co-op FPS is a fun Control spin-off when everything goes right, though such circumstances can prove elusive early on.
COGconnected: 75 / 100 by Lou Sytsma
Firebreak is emblematic of the old saying – “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” The early missions are not reflective of the true depth and replayability the game offers. If you invest a bit of time and upgrade your kit, there is a lot of fun to be had here.
