Is Peak game coming to console? Here’s what we know about PS5, Xbox, and Switch release

Peak, the climbing game, has hit over 28K concurrent players on Steam, but will console players get a chance to try it too? Ports for Xbox, PlayStation 5, and Switch might be on the horizon.

June’s been packed with great new titles on Steam, but one game is really blowing up right now. Peak, developed by Landcrab, is one of those co-op gems that’s perfect for a good laugh, or a friendship-ending session, because let’s be honest, someone’s definitely going to fall (probably a lot), and somebody else is without a doubt getting blamed. Right now, it’s only on Steam, but plenty of players are already asking: is it coming to consoles? Here’s what we know so far.

Peak climbing game console (PS5, Xbox, Switch) release explained

Peak is a first-person co-op game for up to four players, where your goal is to climb the highest mountain to escape a mysterious island you somehow ended up on. It really gives off Chained Together vibes – the multiplayer game that became a sensation on Steam last year. And just like its “older cousin,” Peak is just available on PC for now.

The only official word from the devs about Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch plans is in their Discord FAQ. It says:

What platforms can you play PEAK on?

At the moment we’re only supporting Windows PC’s for the game, in the future we might decide to support more platforms.

So unfortunately, it doesn’t sound that promising. Landcrab is a small team, and Peak looks like it’s their first game, so expecting a console version this soon after launch is probably a bit of a stretch. Right now, their main focus is fixing bugs that popped up since release, and they’ve even said they don’t have any new content planned for the time being.

On the bright side, the player base is growing stronger every day, which could give the devs a push to work on porting the game. Then again, that’s not always how it goes. LOCKDOWN Protocol, another popular co-op title that’s been out for nearly a year, still hasn’t made its way to consoles either.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
